NWW Waterstop Repairs
6 Dams on Columbia, Snake, and Clearwater Rivers
Client: US Army Corps of Engineers
Date Completed: 2023
This project required the repair of failed waterstops in concrete structures within the Walla Walla District of the USACE. Monolith joints at six dams within the district have been leaking for many years, with several still leaking after previous attempts to repair leakage using other techniques.
SCOPE OF WORK
The repair work required drilling boreholes along the leaking monolith joints, cleaning the holes, tremie grouting any voids within the joint, and installing Emagineered’s CYLutions™ waterstop cylinders in the holes to form a new waterstop. Depending on the structure, boreholes were either 6-inches or 8-inches in diameter and hole depths were in the 100-400 foot range.
RESULTS
The project was conducted through the completion of task orders issued over a five year period. Emagineered Solutions, Inc. completed each task order within the scheduled time frame and budget. In the weeks following installation of Emagineered’s CYLutions™ remedial waterstop cylinders, the leakage at all joint locations was dramatically reduced or eliminated. The new watestop seals remain effective today.
